It’s more good news for Niagara College.
Niagara is No. 1 in Ontario in three categories of the 2007 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) survey.

Niagara is rated No. 1 in student satisfaction, quality of college services and facilities/resources.

Niagara’s 87.2 per cent in student satisfaction is nearly 10 per cent higher than the provincial average and above second-place Ottawa’s La Cite Collegiate at 82.7 per cent. Niagara had an 86.4 per cent mark last year.

This is the third year in a row Niagara has been No. 1 in student satisfaction.

It marks the seventh year in a row Niagara College has been at or near the top in student satisfaction.

The KPIs examine four categories: student satifaction, graduation employment rates, graduate satisfaction rate and employer satisfaction rates.

The results were issued on Tuesday, April 10, for all 24 colleges in the province.

The complete KPI results are posted at http://www,collegesontario.org.

The results are outlined on Page 15 of this week’s news@niagara.

“Niagara College has clearly established itself as a leader in student satisfaction among Ontario colleges,” says Dan Patterson, college president, in a press release.

“This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work of all faculty and staff and our organization-wide commitment to the success of our students.

“This is a very proud day for the college, and I thank and congratulate all of you.

“The KPI survey results also show that our students aren’t the only ones who are pleased with the work we are doing.

“More than 93 per cent of employers indicated they are satisfied with the graduates they’ve hired, and 81 per cent of our graduates said they’re satisfied with the education they received.

“The survey results also show that 91 per cent of our 2006 graduates were employed within six months of graduation.

“While we are proud of the results, we plan to continue building on our success of putting students first and ensuring program quality and excellence.

“To that end, the graduate rate results reinforce the need for us to focus our efforts and attention on student retention as we move forward.

“Although we have made progress in the last year, from 57 per cent to 60.6 per cent graduation rate, clearly ensuring our students complete their programs of study and reach their academic goals is a main priority for us all.

“Student retention will be the theme of this year’s Day of Reflection, scheduled for May 3 at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus.

“I urge you [faculty and staff] to attend this event and join in an important discussion of how we can help our students succeed from day one to graduation.

“Again, thanks to each and every one of you who make Niagara College No. 1,” says Patterson

The Association of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario conducted the survey.

Students are not the only ones satisfied with Niagara College.

More than 93.5 per cent of employers indicated they are satisfied with Niagara graduates they have hired, and 80.7 per cent of graduates said they are satisfied with the education they got at Niagara.

The survey results also show that 91 per cent of 2006 graduates at Niagara were employed within six months of graduation.

The college serves 6,300 full-time students and offers more than 70 diploma and advanced level programs at three campuses in the Niagara region.
